The Girl in the Sun
© By Erin R. Blagman
Look into the sun,
Straight into it,
You will see a little girl.
Her name is a mystery,
Her appearance is a shadow,
But there is something inviting, maybe even sweet about this little girl,
She has a history,
A famous one at that.
She planned to follow her dream
Strait to the moon,
But instead of the moon she landed on the sun
And achieved her dream to the fullest
The only catch is,
No one knows
Where the dream went,
Or where it goes.
Many look for that dream;
They spend all of their lives
Looking for that dream,
But never thinking to make it happen.
The girl just frowns now,
Looking down,
Her skin burnt and chapping.
She frowns because she sees people look for her dream that has already come true.
She can see that any person has something to do,
And they do not have to look for hers,
Why not something new?
However, when you get a smile out of her,
If you can,
The summer's heat seems more forgiving, the winter's clouds seem to split,
Because she saw another little girl in someone's eyes,
Waiting to reach the moon.
